Gray Tiger Racing Inc.
was established to form a race team to compete in the Grand
American Road Racing Association's "Daytona Prototype" category. The "Daytona
Prototypes" are a new class of cars which made their racing debut
February 1, 2003 at the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway.
The Daytona Prototypes are purpose-built, closed cockpit
race cars powered by production-based engines. The chassis must be a
steel tube/aluminum semi-monocoque hybrid and must be approved by Grand
American. These cars are powered by normally-aspirated V-8 or V-6
engines with a maximum displacement of 5.5 liters. The engines are
restricted to equalize performance and their configuration must be approved
by Grand American.
Gray Tiger Racing Inc.
is planning on purchasing the first two car built by Rohr
Racing. The first car is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.
Gray Tiger Racing Inc.
is planning on running two cars for the 2008 season.
Gray Tiger Racing Inc.
originally planned on running the Honda V-6 engines in the
cars but the Honda engine has not been approved by Grand American at this
time. Final engine selection as not been decided yet. From more information about Grand American Road
